Material examined. ETHIOPIA: Wolamo, S face of Mt. Damota next Soddu (2900 m), 6.XI.1948, Scott (1♀, NHM) ; Gamo , near Ezo (2900 m), 20–21.XI.1948, Scott (1Ƌ, NHM) ; Jem Jem Forest , 22–24.IX.1926, Scott (Ƌ holotype, NHM) (photographs in OSF).

Distribution. Endemic to Ethiopia.

Characters of the species. Male. Same characters as P. antinorii with the following differences: Tegmina longer than pronotum, exceeding the 2nd abdominal tergite, their apical external angle very slightly less than 90°, rounded ( Figure 13). Appendage widened towards the apex, which is more or less straight with acute lateral angles; one stout spine is present underneath each margin of the appendage base. At the base of the appendage of 10th tergite, the 9th tergite ends with two ovoid apices, smaller than those of P. antinorii ; the base of the subgenital plate is straight ( Figures 18–21 View FIGURE 18 View FIGURE 19 View FIGURE 20 ).

Female. Same characters as the male, with the following differences: Pronotum not saddle-shaped, tegmina very reduced, lateral and not overlapped, just reaching the 1st tergite, their apical external angle about 45°, rounded ( Figure 13). The ovipositor of this species is gently upcurved, like that of P. antinorii ( Figure 22 View FIGURE 22 ), its fine denticles at both upper and lower apices are smaller than in P. antinorii . Subgenital plate with a wide base, diverging apically and ending with a very wide concavity ( Figure 22 View FIGURE 22 ).

Measurements. See Table 3 View TABLE 3 .

Distribution. According to Uvarov (1934) and Ragge (1980) the distribution of this species extends from Shewa province down to the region of Lake Abaya in the extreme north of Sidamo province.
