Draconopteris Li Bing Zhang & Liang Zhang View in CoL , Taxon 65(4): 732. 2016.

This recently described genus includes a single species that was formerly placed in the genus Tectaria , but is phylogenetically distinct from it ( Zhang et al. 2016). Evidence presented suggests it is more closely related to the palaeotropical genera Malaifilix Li Bing Zhang & Schuettp. and Pteridrys C.Chr. & Ching than to the neotropical genera of the family. The single species is terrestrial, has pinnatifid blades with 3–4 pinna pairs, winged rachises, anastomosing veins with free included veinlets, and cristate perispores. In Bolivia, it is readily distinguished from all known species of Tectaria by being exindusiate, but other neotropical species of the latter genus, including some that could occur in Bolivia, also lack indusia.
