Remarks. Michalis (1995) described a new species Octodrilus peleensis from Greece. The data presented in the description completely correspond with the characteristics of the widely distributed Oc. complanatus , except the number of the spermathecae (6 in Oc. peleensis vs. 7 in Oc. complanatus ). But this character is often overlooked, because if the spermathecae are empty, they are transparent and the first pair is usually much smaller than the others. The position of the tubercula pubertatis (they extend 3 segments beyond the clitellum) is the same in Oc. peleensis as in Oc. complanatus , and therefore we regard Oc. peleensis as a synonym of Oc. complanatus .
