Shrubs 1.60–2.10 m tall. Brown and scaly rhytidome. Brown and scaly rhytidome. Branches erect, cylindrical, not winged, reddish; branches, petioles, leaves abaxial surface, inflorescences, bracts, bracteoles, hypanthium and fruits with simple persistent trichomes. Leaves opposite, isophyllous; petioles slightly channelled 8.8–14.2 mm long; leaf blades 16.3–27.1 × 6.1–8.2 cm, chartaceous, discolored, symmetrical, elliptical or oblong, base cuneate, apex acuminate, margins entire and ciliate, adaxial side with simple persistent trichomes along the venation, leaf veins 5, suprabasal; ant domatia absent. Paniculate glomerulous 11–14 × 4.8–7.6 cm, vinaceous, terminal; bracts ca. 6.2 mm long, ovate, caducous; bracteoles ca. 3.6 mm long. Flowers 5-merous, sessile; hypanthium ca. 3.3 mm long, campanulate, smooth; calyx simple, persistent; lacinia triangular; petals 5.4–6.1 × 2.3–2.5 mm, white, obovate, symmetrical, apex rounded, base attenuate, margins not ciliate, glabrous; stamens 10, heteromorphic, smaller anthers ca. 3.1 mm, larger anthers ca. 3.8 mm long, yellow, curved, apex attenuate,1 apical pore, connective not prolonged, smaller filaments ca. 2.8 mm, larger filaments ca. 3.5 mm long, glabrous; ovary ca. 2.6 × 1.6 mm, superior, placentation axillary, 3-locular, with glandular trichomes; style 6.2–9.5 mm long, straight, glabrous. Berry ca. 5.7 × 4.6 cm, unripe fruit green, ripe fruit purple; seeds numerous, triangular.

Distribution and habitat:— Colombia, Venezuela, Guyana, Ecuador, Peru ( Goldenberg et al. 2013). In Brazil it occurs in Amazonian forests ( Goldenberg & Caddah 2015). In the reserve, it occurs in “terra firme” wet lowlands, on sandy soil.

Comments:— This species is frequent near the streams. It can be recognized by the brown and scaly rhytidome, and vinaceous inflorescences.
