14. Henriettea maroniensis Sagot (1883: 330) View in CoL . ( Figure 2 C View FIGURE 2 ; 3 G View FIGURE 3 .)
Small tree 2.8–3.1 m tall. Dark gray rhytidome. Branches erect, cylindrical, not winged, grayish; branches, leave adaxial side and fruits with simple persistent trichomes; petioles, leaves abaxial surface, hypanthium with stellate-stipitate. Leaves opposite isophyllous; petioles slightly channeled 2–2.8 cm long; leaf blades 19.7–27.4 × 8.1–13.7 cm, chartaceous, discolored, symmetrical, elliptical or obovate, base acute, apex slightly cuspidate, margins entire and ciliate, leaf veins 5, suprabasal; ant domatia absent. Flowers axillary, with a maximum of 3 flowers; bracts absent; bracteoles 3.3–7.7 mm long. Flowers 5-merous; pedicel 3.1–3.9 mm long; hypanthium 8.4 mm long, campanulate, smooth; calyx simple, persistent; lacinia ovate; petals 13.1–13.7 × 11.8–12.8 mm, white, rhombic, symmetrical, apex acuminate, base attenuate, margins not ciliate, glabrous; stamens10, isomorphic, anthers 9–10.2 mm long, lanceolate, curved, apex attenuate, 1 subapical pore, connective not prolonged, filament 7–10.6 mm long glabrous; ovary 2.7–3.5 mm long, inferior, placentation axillary intrusive, 4-locular; style ca. 20.4 mm long, curved, with simple persistent trichomes. Berry ca. 16.3 × 14.8 mm, unripe fruit green, ripe fruit salmon; seeds numerous, ovoid.
Specimens examined:— BRASIL. Amazonas , Manaus, RDS-Tupé, 31 January. 2013, fl., fr., A. L. Corrêa 139 ( EAFM!, HUAM!, INPA!) ; 01 February 2013, fl.,fr., A. L. Corrêa 151 ( EAFM!, HUAM!, INPA!) ; 02 March 2013, fl., fr., A. L. Corrêa 190 ( EAFM!, HUAM!, INPA!) .
Distribution and habitat:— Colombia, Guyana, Suriname, Venezuela ( Berry et al. 2001). In Brazil it occurs only in Amazonian forests (Baumgratz 2015). In the reserve, it occurs in “campinarana”, on soils with a lot of organic matter.
Comments:— This species is frequent in the “campinarana”. It can be distinguished by combination of the dark gray rhytidome and pentamerous flowers.
