Syntypes: BMNH 1917.7.14.34–35 (2), 1917.7.25.4 (1, dry, on wood).
Type locality: off mouth of Rio de la Plata (depth 40 fathoms = 73 meters) and off coast of Patagonia @ Lat. 38°20' S. Illustrations: Irigoyen et al., 2008, figs. 2 B, 4 B, & 5; Kuiter, 2004:123.

Distribution: western South Atlantic off southern Brazil and Argentina.
