Holotype: MNHN 0000– 7777, 146 mm SL.

Type locality: Juan Fernández Islands, eastern South Pacific. Illustrations: Anderson & Heemstra, 2012, fig. 6; Kuiter, 2004:116.

D: X, 19 to 22 (usually 20 or 21). A: III, 7 to 9 (usually 8). P: 15 to 18 (rarely 15 or 18). C: 17 (9 + 8). V: 27 (10 + 17). S: 3. GR: 17 to 20 (4 to 6 +12 to 14). LL: 48 to 55 (usually 48 to 51). CP: 27 to 32 (usually 28 to 30).

Distribution: eastern South Pacific off the Juan Fernández Islands and San Félix Island (one of the Desventuradas Islands), and a questionable record from Easter Island ( Anderson & Heemstra, 2012:33–34).
