Measurements. Male body length: 5.4–6.8 mm, female body length: 5.5–7.0 mm.
Description. Body elongate. Head black, mouth parts light brown except outer margins of mandibles; basal four antennomeres fulvous, while others black. Pronotum fulvous with a small black spot of variable shape at basal median, the spot often triangular, oblong, or round. Scutellum metallic green. Elytra metallic green or blue, each with a round fulvous spot at its apex. Ventral side of body black. Legs fulvous, upper sides of femora and tibiae black, tarsi black.
Head densely covered with long silvery pubescence. Mandibles short, labrum narrow, with long pubescence, slightly incised at anterior margin; anterior part of clypeus lustrous, with sparse punctures, and anterior margin widely “V”-shaped incised; frons rough, partly rugose, median depressed; vertex convex, coarsely punctured, with a median longitudinal groove extending to middle of frons. Antennae robust, extending to base of prothorax, pubescent except 3 rd antennomere, 1 st antennomere strongly elevated dorsally, 2 nd small and round, 3 rd oval, smaller than the second, 4 th widely triangular, slightly longer than 3 rd, 5 th – 10 th serrate, larger, last segment long and conical.
Prothorax transverse, 2.21 times as wide as long, moderately convex; anterior margin slightly concave, lateral margins slightly arcuate, convergent anteriad, posterior margin sinuated; anterior angles rectangular, posterior ones broadly rounded, all margins especially the lateral ones bordered; surface lustrous, apical half densely covered with fine punctures, interstices smaller than or as wide as the diameter of a puncture, basal half except basal median sparsely covered with larger punctures, interstices larger than the diameter of a puncture, the lobed basal median with coarse punctures. Scutellum triangular, coarsely punctured, basal part sparsely clothed with short hairs, apical half slightly elevated over elytral surface.
Elytra cylindrical, 1.62 times as long as wide at humeral part, humeral width as broad as prothorax; surface densely covered with fine punctures, interstices at lateral sides as wide as the diameter of a puncture; while that near sutures larger than a puncture, and interstices with large and round punctures.
Ventral side of body and legs thickly clothed with long silvery pubescence; apex of pygidium arcuate. Legs robust, tarsi broad, length ratio of protarsomeres 1.2:1.1:0.3:1.8.
Aedeagus long, bent ventrally, basal 2/3 paler and less sclerotized than apical 1/3; underside of apical part with sparse short pubescence.
Female. Body more robust; anterior margin of clypeus shallowly incised; prothorax narrower than elytra; apex of pygidium truncate; spermatheca hook-shaped, most inflated at 2/5, spermathecal duct about the same thickness, nearly uncoiled; ventral rectal sclerites large, dorsal central sclerite sub-trapezoidal; outer margin of lateral sclerites feebly sclerotized.
Distribution. China (Qinghai, Xizang).
Etymology. The specific epithet is a Latin word viridis (green) and refers to the color of the elytra.
Remarks. This new species is similar to E. peplopteroides Weise , but can be distinguished by the following characteristics: elytra metallic green or blue with a fulvous spot, and covered with finer punctures; spermatheca most inflated at 2/5, spermathecal duct about the same thickness.
