Smetana, 2007: 21 ( Ocypus ; subgenus Pseudocypus ; Type locality: China, Sichuan, Sabde); Smetana, 2008: 169 (China, Sichuan, Zheduo Shankou); Schülke & Smetana, 2015: 1092 ( Ocypus ; subgenus Pseudocypus ; Catalog of Palaearctic Region).
Material examined. CHINA: Sichuan Province: 15 males, 4 females, north of Jiulong County, 3455 m, fir forest, pitfall traps, 8–14.VII.2001, coll. Xiaodong Yu & Hongzhang Zhou (IZ-CAS).
Measurements. Body length: 18.5–20.9 mm. CL: 0.57; EL: 2.67; ELS: 1.31; EW: 3.25; HL: 2.66; HW: 3.33; PO: 1.46; PL: 3.44; PW: 2.99.
Distribution. Ocypus hecato is at present known from the mountains of central Sichuan Province, from Kangding County to north of Jiulong County.
