Genus Fusinus Rafinesque, 1815 View in CoL
Type species: Murex colus Linnaeus, 1758 , Recent, Indo-West Pacific, by monotypy.
Although Vermeij & Snyder (2018: 61) made clear that there are no species of Fusinus s.s. in the New World and reclassified in other genera most of the larger New World species formerly placed in Fusinus , they did not mention two of the Guianan species. We have retained those two species in Fusinus s.l. for lack of a more appropriate genus in which to place them.
