Type species: Acosmetura brevicerca Liu, 2000 .

Diagnosis. Body small, tegmina brachypterous, wings absent. Fastigium verticis conical, rounded apically. Anterior margin of pronotum straight, posterior margin rounded. Metazona slightly raised or not raised at all; lateral lobe narrowing posteriorly, without humeral sinus. Femora unarmed on ventral surfaces; fore coxa with 1 short spine, fore tibia and middle tibia with spines on ventral surfaces, tympanal organ of fore tibiae open on both sides, oval; genicular lobes of hind femora with apices obtuse, hind tibiae with 1 pair of dorsal apical spurs and 2 pairs of ventral apical spurs. Male tegmina covered by pronotum or slightly surpassing posterior margin of pronotum; female tegmina ovoid, positioned laterally; hind wings absent. Posterior margin of male tenth abdominal tergite with 1 shallow concavity, subgenital plate longer than wide; styli stout, inserted on apico-lateral angles of subgenital plate. Genitalia sclerotized and exposed, not surpassing posterior margin of subgenital plate. Ovipositor gently curved upwards, dorsal and ventral margins smooth or with some small thin teeth.
