Salinator sanchezi ( Qadras & Möllendorf, 1894)
Amphibola sanchezi Quadras & Möllendorf, 1894: 121 . Salinator sanchezi subsp. spurca Yen, 1939: 64, fig. 35.
Remarks: The shell of Salinator sanchezi is similar in most respects to that of S. fragilis , but is differentiated by a chestnut band around the umbilicus ( Yen, 1939). The type locality is Manila, Philippines. Yen (1939) described a separate subspecies, S. sanchezi subsp. spurca from Hainan, China, distinguished from S. sanchezi by a larger shell. There are no anatomical descriptions of these taxa, so it is currently impossible to confirm the validity of these species identities or their relationship with other amphibolids. They have been retained in the genus Salinator until their true affiliations are determined. The separation of this species from Amphibola quadrasi , which also occurs in the Philippines, is unclear.
