Genus Anthonympha Moriuti, 1971 View in CoL

Anthonympha Moriuti, 1971: 251 View in CoL ; type species: Calantica oxydelta Meyrick, 1913 , by original designation.

Diagnosis. External features. Head with smooth-scaled frons and rough-scaled vertex, ocelli absent. All species of the genus are similar in pattern of forewing: basal part is white, costa is with oblique alternated brownish and white strokes on the distal part, almost triangular dark band extending from the dorsal margin to slightly beyond the middle or three-fourth across the wing.

Anthonympha species could be divided into two groups according to wing venation: veins M3 and Cu1 are coincident in forewing and M3 and Cu1 connate in hindwing in A. oxydelta , A. devota and A. duplicata ; M3 and Cu1 are separate in the forewing, and M3 and Cu1 are stalked in hindwing in A. speciosa and A. rossica .

In the male genitalia the uncus is rudimentary; socii are short or long and narrow, pointed at the apex; 9th segment is ring-like with short saccus. Valva is almost square in shape or extended distally, with long dorso-basal process; transtilla is narrow and arched; aedeagus with caecum. In the female genitalia the ovipositor is short, apophyses anteriores are bifurcated, lamella postvaginalis is with setose, rounded lobes posteriorly; antrum funnelshaped, ductus tube-like; corpus bursae membranous, small, without signum.

Distribution. Russia (south of Far East), Taiwan, NE and S India (Assam, Karnataka), Sri Lanka, W Malaysia ( Brunei).

Remarks. The wing venation in A. devota and A. duplicata were not described in the original descriptions but their type specimens were examined when Anthonympha was described by Moriuti (1971), with the wing venation of the first group mentioned above. The differences in the wing venation of A. speciosa led to redescription of the genus by Moriuti (1974). A. devota and A. duplicata are included in the first group together with A. oxydelta , whereas speciosa and rossica are placed into the second group. The division of Anthonympha based on the wing venation is not supported by the genital morphology. Hitherto, the male genitalia are known for three species (A. oxydelta , A. speciosa and A. rossica ), and female genitalia in two species ( A. speciosa and A. rossica ) only. According to the genital morphology the most northern species A. rossica is different from the closely related subtropical A. speciosa and tropical A. oxydelta in the male genitalia by the extremely long socii and short, almost quadrate valva, whereas both related species have socii not exceeding 1/7 of valva length and valvae extended distally, at least 2–2.5 times as long as own largest width.
