Isophya costata Brunner von Wattenwyl, 1878
The species was included in the first complete checklist of Czech species (both Czech and Slovak species), compiled by Mařan & Čejchan (1977), on the basis of data taken from the works of Ginter (1924, 1925, 1928). Ginter (1924, 1925) wrote that the species was abundant on tall grasses and bushes from early of June until July. The species is only mentioned again by Ginter (1928). Chládek (1988) was able to study (make a revision of) two males and one female from Pouzdřany that had been identified by Ginter as I. costata ; Chládek realized that all three individuals were misidentified and that they belong to I. pyrenea (a group of species, of which probably only I. kraussii is present in the CR).
In neighboring eastern Austria (Zuna-Kratky et al. 2009), this species lives in habitats that differ with respect to soil humidity, from periodically damp meadows to semiarid grasslands. However, it avoids both consistently dry and wet habitats. All I. costata habitats may be characterized by a certain freshness of the vegetation and a high proportion of herbaceous plants.
However, repeated recent surveys at localities where I. costata could be occurring in the CR, including surveys using a bat detector, have failed to detect any specimens.
