Remarks: Originally described from Java, this is a common species in tropical and subtropical climates of the Oriental, Holoartic Meridional and Neotropical regions ( Subías 2004), and is quite frequent and abundant in secondary forests, pastures and agricultural soils in southeastern Brazil. Some specimens morphologically indistinguishable from those found in the soil have been sporadically recorded on bark, leaves and fruits of Myrtaceae and Arecaceae in Cerrado and Atlantic Forest ecosystems in the State of São Paulo (Oliveira et al. 2005).
