Holotype (Inv. No. IKORT0011 /1) and paratypes (Inv. No. IKORT0011 /2) are deposited in the I. Karaman collection hosted at the Department of Biology and Ecology , University of Novi Sad ( Serbia). One paratype male is deposited in D. Pavićević’s personal collection.
Etymology: The species is dedicated to Zora Karaman, a well-known entomologist from Skopje, who has made a remarkable contribution to the knowledge on the Balkan Troglophilus fauna.
Diagnosis: Medium sized species close related to T. brevicauda . The colour pattern lighter than in the previously mentioned species. On average bigger than T. brevicauda . Titillator is distally narrow and elongated in contrast to T. brevicauda , which is distally wide, widely obtuse. Ovipositor wide, widest in the middle part, with curved ventral margin as opposed to T. brevicauda , which has its widest point in its proximal third with almost straight ventral margin.
Description: Male holotype body length 19.5 mm. Body and legs yellowish coloured, light brown marbled. Length of pronotum 4.7 mm; fore femora 9 mm; fore tibia 10 mm; hind femora 16.8 mm; hind tibia 19.4 mm.
The male tenth tergite with wide, partially square, medial protrusion, which is distally divided by a central shallow depression in two triangular-shaped lobes (as on Fig. 4A View Figure 4 ).
Subgenital plate oval with straight distal margin; styli are short, three quarters as wide as they are long.
The titillator is amber coloured, sclerotized, almost triangular in shape, distally narrowed and slightly prolonged ( Fig. 4E View Figure 4 ). In lateral view, slender, distally slightly voluminous.
Male length of the body ranges between 15–19.5 mm.
Female. The length of the body ranges between 14-18 mm (ovipositor excluded). The general form and colour similar to the male. The tenth abdominal tergite with two paramedial wide tooth form protrusions. Subgenital plate of trapezoid shape with slightly concave distal margin. Ovipositor short and wide, length ranges between 8.5–9.5 mm; the widest point at the end of proximal half ( Fig. 12F View Figure 12 ), ventral margin curved.
Distribution: This thermophilic species is distributed over the greater part of western Macedonia’s karstic regions ( Fig. 5 View Figure 5 ). We have examined specimens from a cave in northern Albania, where this species could be widely present. Type series was collected on the left side of the Matka canyon (northern-most locality) under a rock. Specimens of this species were noticed and some were collected in a pit and beech forest above the canyon on the same side (slopes of the Osoj Mt.). In the caves on the right side of the canyon we have not found any specimen of either this species or the other Troglophilus species. Above the right side of the canyon, in the caves on a plateau, T. neglectus is present.
Remarks: Maran (1958: 389, fig. 5) illustrated the tenth tergite of the male identified as T. neglectus neglectus from a cave in Naussa ( Greece). We believe this material could belong to the new species, T. zorae , but are unable to examine material from this location.
