Macrosteles choui Zhang View in CoL & Lu, sp. nov.

Length (including tegmen). Male: 3.3–3.4 mm; female: 3.7–3.9 mm.

Pale yellow, head with 3 pairs of black spots, not merged, a short longitudinal black band between eyes and ocelli. Forewings transparent.

Male abdomen. 2nd acrotergite with trunk V-shaped. 2nd tergal apodeme developed, reaching about the margin of tergite posteriorly. 1st sternal apodeme with posterior lobes rounded, as long as basal width. 2nd sternal apodeme with posterior lobes about 2.0 times as long as basal width, extending beyond sternum margin.

Male genitalia. Pygofer with a distinct caudo-ventral tubercle; aedeagus sickle-shaped in lateral view; aedeagal shaft broad ventrally, with serrated flanges laterally; apical appendages short, curved dorsally and paralleled apically.

Holotype: male, CHINA, Yunnan Prov., Tengchong City, 14.viii.2005, Coll. Yang Meixia. Paratypes: 1 male, 2 females, same data as holotype; 1 male, Yunnan Prov., Kunming City, Wenquan County, 24.III.1981, Coll. Chou Io.

Distribution. China (Yunnan).

Remarks. This species resembles M. falcatus , but can be distinguished by aedeagal shaft, which is broad ventrally, with serrated flanges laterally.

Etymology. This species is named in hornor of the collector, late Prof. Chou Io, in memory of his 100th anniversary.
