Apodiptacus coniunctus sp. nov. ( Fig. 19 View FIGURE 19 )
Female: Body fusiform, 179 long, shield 42 long, 72 wide, shield lobe present, shield design with median line from base to basal 1/10, admedian lines complete, sub-parallel, connected to median line at basal 1/10, submedian line absent; scapular tubercles set ahead of rear shield margin, setae (sc) directed upward, 2 long, Dt- Dt 25 apart, Dt-Sr 12; leg segments normal, fore and hind femoral setae absent, fore tibial setae (1´) 8 long, set at half; fore coxal area granular; 1st coxal setae (1b) 10 long, Ct1-Ct1 13 apart, 2nd coxal setae (1a) 15 long, Ct2-Ct2 12 apart, 3rd coxal setae (2a) 23 long, Ct3-Ct3 30 apart, Ct1\Ct2 18, Ct1-Ct2 13, Ct2\Ct3 21, Ct2-Ct3 8; claw ending as knob; empodium divided, more than 10 rayed.
Opisthosoma: dorsum with median ridge ending before subdorsal ridge, dorsal annuli with about 52 rings, 1st 3 dorsal annuli 11 long, ventral annuli with about 76 microtuberculate rings; lateral setae (c2) 28 long, Lt- Lt 49 apart, Lt\Vt1 51, Lt-Vt1 29; 1st ventral setae (d) 28 long, Vt1-Vt1 36 apart, Vt1\Vt2 39, Vt1-Vt2 28; 2nd ventral setae (e) 19 long, Vt2-Vt2 18 apart, Vt2\Vt3 58, Vt2-Vt3 54; 3rd ventral setae (f) 23 long, Vt3-Vt3 30 apart; accessory setae (h1) present.
Epigynium: 32 wide, 18 long, with about 14 longitudinal ridges, genital setae (3a) 8 long, Gt-Gt 20 apart.
Male: not seen.
Type data: Holotype Ψ, Taipei: Yangmingshan (660m; N25°10´E121°34´), 18-Aug.-1999, Huang & Wang; ex Machilus thunbergii Siebold & Zucc. (Lauraceae) . (deposited at NMNS). Paratypes, 3Ψ, data same as for holotype.
Relation to host: A vagrant on the lower leaf surface. No apparent damage was observed.
Remarks: This new species is close to A. cordiformis Keifer, 1960 by the shield design with median line present at rear and the admedian lines connected near base. This new species differs from A. cordiformis by the following characters: the shield design with admedian lines connected at basal 1/10, the coverflap with about 14 longitudinal ridges, and empodium with more than 10 rayed.
Etymology: This new name means “connected” in reference to the admedian lines connected at basal 1/ 10.
