Morophaga fasciculata Robinson, 1986 View in CoL
[Japanesed name: Usumadara-ohirozukoga]
Morophaga facsiculata Robinson, 1986: 133 , figs. 78, 139, 178 (Type locality: Nara, Honshu, Japan); Park and Whang 1990: 25 –26, figs. 9–11; Ponomarenko and Park 1996: 278, 279; Gaedike 2000: 360, 373; Sakai 2013: 119, pl. 3-11-5, figs. Tin2.–2a, 2b.
Diagnosis. The morphological differences between M. plana and M. fasciculata are detailed above in the ‘Diagnosis’ for M. plana .
Redescription. Head: Resembling that of M. plana , but differing in having vertex and frons clothed with yellowish white hairs. Thorax: Length of forewing 6.4–9.0 mm; forewing expanse 14.0– 18.8 mm. Wing markings ( Fig. 1 View FIGURE 1 B) resembling those of M. plana , but differing in having forewing dorsal surface grayish white in ground color. Wing venation ( Fig. 2 View FIGURE 2 B) resembling that of M. plana . Abdomen: Male genitalia ( Figs. 5 View FIGURE 5 A–F) resembling those of M. plana , but differing as follows: saccus broad and rounded ventrally; apical serrate process of valva slender and long, 2/3 length of width of valva. Juxta nearly round; length of phallus about 7 times as long as broad in middle. Female genitalia ( Figs. 6 View FIGURE 6 A–B) resembling those of M. fasciculata , but differing as follows: concavity of posterior margin of ostium bursae about 2/3 width of ostium bursae; width of antrum 1/4 length of antrum.
Distribution. Japan: Honshu, Shikoku (newly recorded) and Kyushu; Korea, Russia (Primorsky).
Specimens examined. [Honshu] Miyagi Pref.: 1♂, Yuhama-onsen, Hanayama-mura, 19. v. 1997, emerged 22.vi.1997, M. Sakai leg. Gunma Pref.: 1♂, Mabashi-shi, 16.vi.1967, Shimeki leg. Gifu Pref.: 1♂, Tsukiyoshi, Mizunami-shi, 2.vii.1998, emerged 16.vii.1998, T. Yasaki leg. Kyoto Pref.: 3♂, 3♀, Mt Uriu, Kyoto-shi, Huang GH, M. Sakai and K. Kadowaki leg. [Shikoku] Tokushima Pref.: 1♂, Miwa-cho, 18.viii.1990, T. Mano leg. [Kyushu] Fukuoka Pref.: 1♂, 4♀, Yamadaryokuchi, Kitakyushu-shi, 28.viii.1995, emerged 3–23.xi.1995, M. Sakai leg.; 1♂, Mt Hiko, Soeda-cho, 8.v.2013, emerged 27.v.2013, T. Hirowatari leg. Kagoshima Pref.: 2♂, 2♀, Kaigata, Tarumizu-shi, 5.vii.2014, emerged (from Trametes versicolor ) 18.viii.2014, Y. Osada leg.
Remarks. Known larval hosts are Trametes kusanoana Imazeki ( Robinson 1986) and Lenzites vespaceus ( Pers.) Ryv. ( Sakai 2013) . In addition, larvae have been collected from Trametes versicolor (L.:Fr.) Quél. Within M. fasciculata , no intraspecific variation, such as geographical clines in the genital morphology, could be recognized.
