Family Sesiidae View in CoL
Sesiidae View in CoL is group of wasp mimicking moths with narrow, transparent wings (scales retained along margins and on veins) having uniquely specialized coupling apparatus in addition to frenuluo-retinacular wing coupling. In females, frenulum is a single bristle. Proboscis unscaled and labial palpi porrect or upturned, often roughly scaled. Most of the adult’s rest with their wings half-spread and their bodies almost parallel to the surface. The family comprises 1553 species and 46 subspecies in 165 genera, under Sesiinae View in CoL and Tinthiinae View in CoL ( Pühringer & Kallies 2004, 2023). In India, 89 species in 38 genera are known, so far.
