Type material: male, with labels as follows: “ HOLOTYPUS, Lepidophallus , taipingensis sp. n., Bordoni det. 2002” / “‘ China: Sichuan,’ Qingcheng Shan, 65km NW ‘ Chengdu ,’ ‘103.33E,’ 30.53N, 18. V / 3 . ‘- 4.VI.1997,’ 8 km W Taiping, ‘ 800-1000m,’ leg. A.Pütz ”. (CP)
Distribution. China (Sichuan).
Remarks. This species is unique and could be easily distinguished from its congeners by: 1) body large size (10.7 mm); 2) temple quite dilated; 3) punctures on dorsal side of head deep and densely distributed, interspaces shorter than half of a puncture’s diameter; 4) punctures on dorsal surface of pronotum arranged in 7–8 paired rows; 5) mesoscutellum bearing polygonal reticulum; 6) punctures on dorsal surface of elytra bearing more than ten rows on each side; 7) dorsal surface of abdomen bearing transverse microstriae and densely distributed, rounded punctures, interspaces ca. a punctures’ diameter; 8) arcuate posterior margin of male abdominal tergite VIII, attached a small, median triangular notch; 9) unique inner sac.
