Type locality. WC, ‘Montagu Pass, 4.5 km north of George’.

Distribution. Species known from many samples collected at three sites, separate but close to each other, all bordering Western and Eastern Cape provinces in the coastal-belt: Wilderness, near George: four sites, various biotopes at roadside, brackish estuary and damp spots. EC: Humansdorp area, two samples from Assegaibosch. Five samples from Witte Els Bosh mountain side and kloof below Damant’s farm.

Remarks. Syntypes SAMC 105, specimen from Michaelsen collection, revised by Pickford (1937: 534); ZMH V-7837. Other material: BMNH 1938.7.1.2440–2444, 1938.7.1.2393–2400, 1938.7.1.2401–2439, identified by Pickford as types and paratypes for race platylophi and winifreda.
