Type locality. France (greenhouse).

Distribution. Cosmopolitan: in RSA: WC: Caffraria, by Michaelsen translated to ‘Kafferlandet’ (possibly referring to Cape Peninsula). Cape Peninsula: Hout Bay, Skoorsteenkop at ca. 180 m asl from the wet leaves in indigenous forest. Mossel Bay, among the damp leaf mould, Victoria Park. NC: Namaqualand, Kamaggas. EC: Port Elizabeth. KZN: Krantzkop. Drakensberg, Rainbow Gorge. LP: Zoutpansberg, small ‘kloof’ north-west of Makhado [= Louis Trichard], native forest.

Remarks. Widely distributed intentionally or accidentally all over the world, occurs where climatic conditions allow. Introduced to this country.
