Tameothrips Bhatti, 1978:106 View in CoL . Type species: Euthrips tamicola Bagnall 1914 View in CoL , by monotypy.
This genus can be distinguished from the other genera of the Anaphothrips View in CoL genus-group by the following set of characters ( Bhatti 1978): Tarsi 2-segmented; postocular setae arranged in one row; ferna entire; mesothoracic sternopleural suture present, spinula present on mesosternum but absent on metasternum ( Fig. 8 View FIGURES 7 – 10 ); abdominal tergites and sternites without craspeda; median setae long on abdominal tergites VI–VIII; absence of a comb on posterior margin of tergite VIII and S6 setae on the abdominal tergite II–VI inserted at posterior margin ( Fig. 14 View FIGURES 11 – 15 ); prominent, long medio-dorsal setae (md) on tergite IX. The genus Tameothrips View in CoL is known only by its type species, and the new species described here is the second species in this genus.
