Measurements: (19 specimens measured) Average total length: 11.3mm, range: 10.0– 13.6mm, average elytral length: 7.8mm, average elytral width: 3.5mm, average pronotal length: 2.5mm, average pronotal width: 2.5mm, average head width: 2.2mm.
Head: Black, cranium vested with short setae, punctation relatively strong, interstices irregular, about one diameter of punctures; interocular depressions strongly developed, posterior part of clypeus dark red-brown to black, margins darkened, anterior margin concave, with large punctation and a few long setae laterally, smooth centrally; ventral part dark red-brown, wrinkled, smooth centrally; antennae light red-brown, lighter then head capsule, antennomeres gradually decreasing in length from A3 towards A8, A9 to A11 forming a distinct club, antennae not reaching base of pronotum when laid back; gular sutures parallel, gular process broad.
Thorax: Average pronotal length:width ratio 1.0:1; pronotum broadest centrally, dark red-brown to black, anteriorly lighter, sparsely vested with short yellowish setae, with dense punctation on pronotal disc, diameter of punctures variable, prosternum smooth; mesosternum vested with yellowish setae; metasternum vested with fine setae; anterior metasternal process with two strongly sclerotized, ventrally projecting, edges; scutellum circular, colored like surrounding elytra.
Elytra: Average length:width ratio 2.3:1; basal two thirds dorsally surrounded dark red-brown, one dark red-brown spot on each elytron in basal half, one broad red-brown postmedian fascia, lateral margins yellow, coloration very variable, basal two thirds can be entirely dark red-brown, apex always yellow, rectangular subcutaneous structures visible through lighter areas, vested with short decumbent and few longer erect setae, punctation relatively small, striae 1 obsolete after dark spot in basal half, striae 1 to 6 becoming continuously longer until striae 6 reaches anterior margin of postmedian fascia, striae 7 and 8 as long as striae 6, striae 9 and 10 with very weak punctation, interstices between striae about one diameter of punctures, interstices within striae smaller than one diameter of punctures; punctation slightly rasp-like, carination absent.
Legs: Yellow, tarsi slightly darker, tarsal pulvilli pale; metatibiae more or less straight, tibiae not carinated.
Abdomen: Male and female ventrite 6 yellow, punctation distinct, interstices about one diameter of punctures. Male pygidium subovate; male ventrite 6 extremely emarginate in a broad and deep U-shape. Male genitalia ( Fig. 52 View FIGURE 52 ): Dorsal sclerotization of tegmen apically conspicuously dilated; phallic plates broad; spicular fork dividing into two branches after two fifths of length.
Distribution: India, Tibet.
Seasonal occurrence: Collected from July to December.
