TYPE LOCALITY: Algeria, Oran .
DISTRIBUTION: N. Egypt to Morocco; Niger to Sudan; nerhaps S. Israel. Introduced to New Mexico and Texas ( U.S.A.).
COMMENT: Should be included in Hemitragus (PG) . Reviewed by Gray and Simpson, 1980, Mamm. Species, 144:1-7.
PROTECTED STATUS: CITES - Appendix III ( Tunisia).
