Type species of the subgenus: Ptilocrinus pinnatus A.H.Clark, 1907 . Synonymy: Mironov & Sorokina, 1998b: 41.
Emended diagnosis. Subgenus of Ptilocrinus with tegmen inflated, never with conspicuous radial bridges elevated above tegmen; cover plates flat and sub-rectangular in regular rows forming an angle with oral at top; oral convex or flat (without median depression); anal sac frequently inconspicuous, equal to or slightly higher than oral cone. Polygonal tegminal plates forming an interradial pavement between proximal arms without arrangement into median row. Distal stalk syzygies with radial or labyrinthic crenularium well differentiated.
Included species. P. australis Améziane & Roux, 2011 (southeastern Indian Ocean, 999 to 1,450 m); P. (Ptilocrinus) clarki n. sp. (northeastern Pacific, 1,042 to 1,922 m); P. pinnatus A.H. Clark, 1907 [= P. (Ptilocrinus) ahearnae Mironov & Sorokina, 1998b ; = P. ( Ptilocrinus ) sp aff. stukalinae Mironov & Sorokina, 1998b ] (north Pacific, 2,540 to 2,860 m).
