Key to Chinese Colletes clypearis View in CoL -group known species
Males: Antennal flagellum 11 segmented. For the identification of males, it is generally recommended and necessary for most species to dissect genitalia and especially S7. Due to variation in size and outer morphology, the shape and size of S7 is the easiest and most reliable character for the identification of the majority of species. For all species (except C. hirsutus sp. n., C. inspersus sp. n., C. xuezhongi sp. n., C. yanruae sp. n. and C. xizangensis sp. n., for which males are unknown), S7, genitalia and metasoma has been imaged to facilitate identification.
