Type:— DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF THE CONGO [currently GABON], Environs de Moanda, 01 January 1907, G. Justin s.n. ( holotype: BR, photograph!).

Type:— IVORY COAST, Mt. Sassandea, Pays Toura, entre Sogui et Koualé, 6 May 1909, A. J. B. Chevalier 21690 [ holotype: P, photograph!, isotype: K (fragment), photograph!].
The species is known from west tropical Africa to Uganda ( Govaerts et al. 2016), and it is morphologically similar to Angraecoides pingue (Frappier ex Cormemoy 1895: 214) Szlach., Mytnik & Grochocka in Szlachetko et al. (2013: 10), the type species of the genus, but it is easily distinguished by its inflorescence which is always shorter than the leaves ( vs. longer than the leaves) and its sigmoid spur ( vs. straight).
