Trachynotothrips striatus View in CoL gen. et sp. nov.
Description. Female. Macropterous. Distended body length 1.1mm. Body generally pale with brown markings. Head pale with cheeks and between antennae shaded, ventral surface shaded with anterior transverse pale band on frons; antennal segments I and III yellowish white, segments II and VI to VIII brown, segment IV yellowish white with distal half brown, segment V yellowish white with distal third brown. Pronotum yellowish white with two submarginal longitudinal brown bands. Mesonotum yellowish white, shaded anterolaterally. Metanotum pale brown. Metapreepisternum, metaepisternum, metaepimeron pale brown. Fore wings with alternate four white areas and three brown bands, base and apex pale, brown band near base paler than other bands; scale shaded at apex. Fore femora slightly shaded with apex pale, mid and hind femora pale brown with apex pale; fore and mid tibia pale brown with base pale, hind tibia pale with middle pale brown; all tibiae pale. Abdominal segments yellowish white to yellowish brown with brown along anterior margin of tergum II and VIII, along anterior margin and each side of tergum III to VII, along each side of sterna III to VII and on laterotergites. Prominent body setae shaded.
Head 0.6 times as long as wide; dorsal surface with irregular reticulation lacking internal wrinkle in front of fore ocellus and with a line of sculpture on postocular area ( Fig. 8 View FIGURES 8 – 10 ). Ocellar setae III situated between hind ocelli, 4.7 times as long as distance between their bases. Postocular setae minute. Compound eyes with stout lanceolate setae. Antennal segments III to VI with some microtrichial rows on both dorsal and ventral surfaces; segment II without microtrichial row; segment III small, widest at middle; segment IV widest at middle, tapering at distal half; segment VI the longest, tapering at distal twothirds like neck, with inner sensecone exceeding middle of segment VIII and a ventral apical sensecone exceeding apex of segment VIII ( Fig. 9 View FIGURES 8 – 10 ). Length/Width of antennal segments I to VIII as follows: 1.0, 1.2, 1.9, 3.1, 2.3, 2.4, 1.3, 4.0.
Pronotum 1.9 times as long as wide, with 17 slightly stout discal setae; posteroangular setae I 0.6 times as long as pronotal median length and 0.9 times setae II ( Fig. 8 View FIGURES 8 – 10 ). Mesonotum sculptured with transverse striae on posterior half; campaniform sensilla absent anteromedially; median pair of setae situated near posterior margin ( Fig. 10 View FIGURES 8 – 10 ). Metascutum sculptured longitudinally at middle, with median pair of setae 0.3 times as long as metascutal median length ( Fig.10 View FIGURES 8 – 10 ). Fore wing first vein with 5 basal setae; costal vein with 21 (left) and 22 (right) setae; second vein with 9 setae.
Abdominal terga II to VII sculptured with outside of B2 setae, smooth between each B2 setae, with small microtrichia along posterior margin behind sculptured area ( Fig. 12 View FIGURES 11 – 13 ); terga III to VIII with five pairs of setae; terga IV to VII also with a few microtrichia at middle of posterior margin ( Fig. 13 View FIGURES 11 – 13 ); tergum VIII with B4 setae minute; tergum IX with B1 setae subequal to middorsal setae, 0.5 times as long as tergum IX median length, 0.8 times as long as B2 setae ( Fig. 13 View FIGURES 11 – 13 ). Ovipositor 2.7 times as long as pronotal median length.
