Dianthidium (Dianthidium) platyurum Cockerell, 1923 View in CoL

[ Holotype: CASC; ♂ San Francisquito Bay , Baja California; 10 May 1921]

Dianthidium platyurum View in CoL is known from the xeric regions of the southern USA and northwestern Mexico. This species specializes on pollen from a broad range of genera in the family Asteraceae ( Fowler 2020) View in CoL . We examined specimens collected in the Lower Colorado Desert in March 1976 ( 1 ♀), Central Desert in June 1967 ( 1 ♀), Sarcocaulescent Shrubland in November 2013 ( 1 ♀, 1 ♂; BBSL), and Gulf Coast in September 1981 ( 1 ♀), and July 1983 ( 1 ♀, 1 ♂; SDNHM). The BBPT collected one female in the Central Desert in March 2021 ( MABC). See fig. 203.
