Genus Paraphylax Förster 1869 View in CoL View at ENA
( Ichneumonidae : Cryptinae)
Paraphylax Foerster View in CoL ( Ichneumonidae View in CoL : Cryptinae) is typically seen as parasitic on psychids, microlepidopterans, spider egg cocoons, and other ichneumonids. It is known from the Afrotropical, Australasian, Eastern Palaearctic, Oceanic, and Oriental regions ( Yu 2013). The genus has also been recorded in the Neotropical region ( González-Moreno and Bordera 2011). From India, Paraphylax varius (Walker) View in CoL is described from the bagworm Metisa plana Walker ( Kamarudin et al. 1996) View in CoL and Heliothis armigera Huebner ( Choudhary et al. 1983) . Moreover, Paraphylax sp. is documented for the first time from Glyptapanteles trilochae ( Braconidae View in CoL : Microgastrinae ) cocoons associated with the caterpillar of Trilocha varians (Walker) View in CoL as a hyperparasitoid. However, the species identity could not be verified ( Gupta 2013).
