Huascaromusca Townsend, 1918: 155 . Type-species Huascaromusca cruciata Townsend, 1918 , by monotypy [= Calliphora xanthorrhina Bigot ].

Promesembrinella Hall, 1948: 65. Type-species Mesembrinella semiflava Aldrich, 1925 , by original designation. References: Hall (1948: 68); Mello (1967: 32); James (1970: 3; catalog); Guimarães (1977: 45; revision); Peris & Mariluis (1984: 253); Toma & Carvalho (1995: 140).

Diagnosis. Medium-sized specimens (6–9 mm in length), males holoptic; facial carina not prominent; postocular setae reaching the gena; 2–3 humeral setae; presutural acrostichals 0:1, 1:1 or 2:1; intra-alar setae 0:2; meral setae in a straight line; scutellum with discal setae; subcostal sclerite bare or ciliate; syntergite 1+2 without lateral discal setae; T5 with discal setae.
