Type species: Lecanium marsupiale Green, 1904 View in CoL .
Generic diagnosis: The following generic diagnosis of Marsipococcus View in CoL is based on Łagowska et al. (2017): (i) dorsal derm with radial lines extending mesad from the margin; (ii) with a group of ventral tubular ducts present on either side of the genital opening; (iii) each stigmatic cleft containing 2 stigmatic spines, 1 on the anterior margin and the other on the posterior margin; (iv) preopercular pores present or absent; (v) each anal plate without a subdiscal seta; (vi) multilocular disc pores, when present, each with 5 or 6 loculi; (vii) anal cleft with sclerotization around its anterior margin; (viii) marginal setae strongly spinose and pointed, subequal to or longer than stigmatic setae; and (ix) tibia and tarsus fused, without segmentation ( Joshi 2020).
