Type locality: Kagoshima, Japan . Also known from Kenya, Zanzibar, Tanzania, Mozambique, Comoro Islands, Madagascar, Seychelles, Mauritius, La Réunion, Maldives, Chagos Islands, Vietnam , South China Sea, Japan, Philippines, Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, Australia ( Western Australia, Queensland), Mariana Islands, Caroline Islands, New Caledonia, Loyalty Islands, Marshall Islands, Cook Islands , and Fiji.
