Family Striariidae Bollman, 1893 View in CoL
The taxonomic characters useful in distinguishing species of Striariidae were discussed by Shear (2020), with reference to Striaria columbiana Cook, 1899 (Virginia, USA). The members of the family may be easily recognized in the field by the broad, hooded collum (col, Figs 1 View FIGURES 1–6 , 14 View FIGURES 12–15 ) and the crested pleurotergites ( Fig. 15 View FIGURES 12–15 ). All presently known striariids have 30 pleurotergites.
