TYPE LOCALITY: "Bengal as well as Assam " [ India]. Restricted by Ellerman (1940:354) to Assam .
DISTRIBUTION: E Nepal through Assam ( India); N and C Burma, and Yunnan ( China), and south through Thailand, Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia to the S Malay Peninsula.
SYNONYMS: barbei (Blyth, 1847); collinus Moore, 1958; inconstans Thomas, 1920; kongensis (Bonhote, 1901); leucotis (Temminck, 1853); lylei Thomas, 1920; manipurensis ( Bonhote, 1900); novemlineatus Miller, 1903; pembertoni (Blyth, 1842).
