TYPE LOCALITY: E Zaire, Ruwenzori, Wimi Valley .
DISTRIBUTION: Ruwenzori Mtns in E Zaire; Rwanda; Burundi; SW Uganda.
SYNONYMS: ituriensis (Prigogone, 1954); schoutedeni (Prigogine, 1954); vulcanius Thomas, 1909.
COMMENTS: Formerly included in Aethosciurus , which is here included in Paraxerus following Moore (1959).
