TYPE LOCALITY: Colombia, near Bogota .

DISTRIBUTION: Colombian Andes.

SYNONYMS: caucensis Nelson, 1899; medellinensis (Gray, 1867); minor (Alston, 1878); salentensis (J. A. Allen, 1914).

COMMENTS: Subgenus Guerlinguetus ; see Cabrera (1961:372) and Eisenberg (1989). Moore (1959) placed pucheranii in the genus Microsciurus .
