Diagnosis:— Dolichandra unguis-cati can be recognized by the ovate prophylls of the axillary buds and by the campanulate calyx.

Reproductive Period:— Flowers were collected throughout the year, fruiting in February, September and November.

Distribution and Habitat:— It occurs from México to Uruguay between sea level to 2100 m alt., usually in dry forests ( Lohmann 2010, Lohmann & Taylor 2014, Fonseca et al. 2017). Within the study area, it was registered in Céu Azul, Foz do Iguaçu, the PARNA Iguazú on turism trails, and on the Céu Azul – Serranópolis do Iguaçu unpaved road.
