Limnophora translucida Stein, 1913: 517 View in CoL .
( Figs 8 View FIGURES 5 – 8 , 112–115 View FIGURES 104 – 119 )
Syntypes male and female seen in BMNH ( Pont and Werner 2006: 104–105; Pont 2013: 113); all in good condition.
Diagnosis. ( Fig. 8 View FIGURES 5 – 8 ) Presutural spots separated posteriorly or wholly fused, sometimes narrowly connected with the presutural band on median line, but not extending on to postpronotum as in L. flavibasis ; postsutural dorsocentrals 4; mid femur with 2 preapical setae; mid tibia with 2 posterior setae; costal spine not distinct; basal abdominal segments yellow; sternite 5 much longer than wide ( Fig. 112 View FIGURES 104 – 119 ).
Terminalia. Cercal plate and surstylus as in Figs 113-114 View FIGURES 104 – 119 . Aedeagal complex as in Fig. 115 View FIGURES 104 – 119 .
Notes. A long series of males and females in the BMNH. One male dissected and illustrated. The morphology of the male terminalia is identical with that of L. terrestris Paterson, 1955 ( paratype male seen and one male dissected), and the synonymy of these two species is proposed herein, with L. terrestris being ranked as a junior synonym of L. translucida ( syn. nov.).
