Shrub 3.5 m. Young branchlets, petioles, leaf nerves below and inflorescences setose to setulose. Young branchlets terete. Leaf blades elliptic, above bullate and stellulate-furfuraceous, 5(–7)-nerved. Dioecious plant; pistillate flowers 5-merous (only pistillate flowers seen).

Distribution in Peru:—Montane forests on eastern slopes, between 2350 and 2450 m.

Specimens examined:— PERU. Piura. Huancabamba: El Carmen de la Frontera, Sapalache, en la trocha de Chinguela en dirección de playón, 2431 m, Bernard Peyton, N.Y.Z.S 20 (USM).
