Diagnosis. The same diagnosis as Pinto-da-Rocha & Kury ( 2003: 181) give for Santinezia .
Justification of the synonymies. Both type species of Acanthocranaus and Comboyus present a ventral spur on male coxa IV and penis with folded glans, diagnostic characteristics traditionally regarded as typical of the genus Santinezia . However, type species of Phareicranaus , P. calcariferus , presents a tubercle on male coxa IV larger than other ventral tubercles and homologous to the ventral spur of Santinezia . In addition, the type species of these three genera share paired spines on ocularium, area III and tergite III, as well as area II invading I, features present in all species here assigned to Phareicranaus .
