Sesleria ujhelyii Strgar (1981: 217) View in CoL

Neotype (designated here):— BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA. Sarajevo : Dariva near Sarajevo , slopes below Bijela Tabje tower, rocky, calcareous grassland dominated by S. ujhelyii , 20 May 2003, Alegro 33277 ( ZA!). Fig. 5 View FIGURE 5 .

Additional specimens examined: — BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA. Sarajevo : Miljacka, gorge (1,5 km west of Han Derventa), rocks, limestone, 800 m, 10 August 2011, Niketić & Tomović 33821 ( BEOU!) .

Notes:— Sesleria ujhelyii was described by Strgar (1981), who designated as “ typus ” (the holotype) a specimen from Bosnia: “… Dariva prope Sarajevo in rupigus et graminosis calcareis vallis fluminis Mjliacka, 28.4.1973, M. Strgar and V. Strgar LJU ”. One year later, Strgar (1982: 157) again proposed S. ujhelyii as a new species, making reference to the same type specimen. This is an isonym and may be disregarded (Art. 6, Note 2 of the ICN). A recent search revealed that in LJU there are no S. ujhelyi specimens collected by Strgar. Strgar’s work on Sesleria was interrupted by his death before he managed to finish labeling and organizing his Sesleria collection. It is probable that the Strgar’s original material was lost or accidentally destroyed during the last three decades. A search for specimens of this taxon possibly reviewed by Strgar in other European herbaria (e.g., BEAU, BP, PR, RO, W, WU, ZA) did not turn up any specimens. Because no original material is available, a neotype must be designated (Art. 9.11 of the ICN). We designate as neotype a specimen collected in Dariva (near Sarajevo), the same locality quoted in the protologue of S. ujhelyii ( Fig. 5 View FIGURE 5 ).

Other taxa belonging to the S. juncifolia complex are properly typified. We report these below, including illustrations of their respective type specimens.
