Gonatopus shoanus Ponomarenko & Olmi 2006: 9 .

Description. ♀. Apterous; body length 2.1–2.4 mm. Head black, except mandible, clypeus and anterior third of frons (including region between antennal toruli) testaceous; ventral side of head black, except anterior half testaceous; antenna completely testaceous (holotype with antennomeres 1–3 testaceous; remaining antennomeres missing; in specimen from South Africa, 32°14.990’S 24°55.962’E, antenna brown, except antennomeres 1–3 testaceous); mesosoma black; metasoma brown; legs testaceous, except clubs of femora and meso- and metacoxa partly brown. Antenna clavate; antennomeres in following proportions: 7:5:5:4.5:5:4:3.5:3.5:3.5:5. Head excavated, shiny, unsculptured, except temple and occiput granulate; frontal line complete; occipital carina shortly present behind and on sides of lateral ocelli; POL = 1; OL = 1; OOL = 7; greatest breadth of lateral ocelli longer than OL (1.5:1). Palpal formula 4/2. Pronotum bare, crossed by strong transverse impression, shiny, unsculptured, except few longitudinal striae on laterial regions. Mesoscutum dull, sculptured by few longitudinal striae, without lateral pointed apophyses. Mesoscutellum shiny, unsculptured, flat. Metanotum short, rugose and transversely striate, about coplanar to mesoscutellum ( Fig. 240B View FIGURE 240 ), laterally with two rounded protrusions. Metapectal-propodeal disc shiny, with few irregular striae, unsculptured among striae, with track of median longitudinal furrow; propodeal declivity, mesopleuron and metapleuron transversely striate. Meso-metapleural suture distinct and complete. Protarsomeres in following proportions: 10:2.5:3:12:19. Enlarged claw ( Fig. 236F View FIGURE 236 ) with one small subapical tooth and one row of 5–6 peg-like setae, in addition to one bristle. Protarsomere 5 ( Fig. 236F View FIGURE 236 ) with one row of 16–19 lamellae; apex with approximately 8–11 lamellae. Tibial spurs 1/0/1.

Material examined. Type: ♀ holotype: ETHIOPIA: Shewa (= Shoa) Province, 95 km W Addis Abeba, Ambò (= Hagere Hiywot), near Plant Protection Research Institute , 2400–2500 m, 19.V.1990, A. Emelyanov leg. ( ZISP) . Other material: SOUTH AFRICA: Eastern Cape, Asante Sana Game Reserve , 32°14.990’S 24°55.962’E, 2183 m, 29.X.2009 – 23.II.2010, MT, Karoo Escarpment Grassland, S. van Noort leg. GoogleMaps , 1♀ ( SAMC). ZAMBIA: Copperbelt Province, 50 km W Chingola , 9–11.XII.2002, J. Halada leg. , 1♀ ( OLL) .

Distribution. Ethiopia, South Africa, Zambia.
