Range. This species is known only from the type-locality, a spring stream near Ernstville, in Washington Co., Maryland. The eyeless, unpigmented appearance of this isopod indicates that it is a subterranean species, presumably discharged into the spring stream in which it was collected. Numerous attempts to find it again have been unsuccessful.
