Description. Adult ( Fig. 6 View FIGURES 1 – 10 ): Wingspan 15.0 mm. Head grey mottled with black; labial palpus upcurved, segment 2 twice broader and slightly longer than segment 3, underside with groove, both segments black with light medial and apical belts, outer and upper surface nearly white; thorax greyish-black; tegulae grey with few brown scales; ground colour of forewing greyish to light-brown, grey, black-tipped scales concentrated mainly in basal 1/ 3 and along dorsum whereas light brown scales form a lighter pattern in distal half, veins slightly mottled with orange-brown, two black spots in base of cell, one spot in the corner of cell, short black streak just in base under the costal margin and another one on 1/4 length of costa, two diffuse black spots at the base, a few black scales on 2/3 and 3/4 of costal margin and around the apex of wing; cilia brown, black-tipped; hindwing dark grey.
Male genitalia ( Fig. 32 View FIGURES 28 – 35 ): Uncus slightly longer than broad, gradually narrowed apically, apex rounded; gnathos slender, of equal width, curved at right angle in middle; tegumen moderately broad, anteromedial emargination broader than long, extending to 1/3 length of tegumen; valva slender, ventral margin sightly broadened before middle, apex weakly inflated, top distinctly pointed and turned inwards, reaching the top of uncus; sacculus about 1/3 length of valva, slender, of equal width, tip pointed and turned inwards; posterior margin of vinculum with shallow medial emargination, vincular processes short, reaching half length of sacculus, covered with short setae in apical part, broadly separated by medail incision; saccus short, narrow, triangular, slightly exceeds the top of pedunulus; caecum slightly swollen, distal half weakly narrowed apically, apex with small pointed tip on right side, apical arm large, subrectangular, distal margin concave in middle, lamina well developed.
Female unknown.
Remarks. The single known male looks externally similar to K. (E.) palaearctica , except for well developed black pattern in basal 1/3 of forewing and along dosral margin. The male genitalia differ from those of the last species in the longer valva that projected over the top of the uncus, the broader phallus, the wider and more shallow posteromedial emargination of the vinculum.
Biology. Host plant unknown. Adult has been collected in late August.
Distribution. China (Qinghai).
Etymology. The specific name refers to the type locality, Mengda, Qinghai Province.
