Valid name: Pipistrellus tenuis (Temminck, 1840)

Syntype (marked with type *): ZMB 2643 View Materials , skin and skull, juvenile; Java, Indonesia; ex RMNH .

Comment: Further syntypes are in RMNH, marked “a” and “b” (both skulls extracted), leg. M. S. Müller, Sumatra ( Tate 1940: 9), and in BMNH (No. 1907.1.1.407–408) marked as “cotypes” of „ tenuis Temminck “. Tate (1942b: 242) restricted the type locality to “ Sumatra ” (= Sumatera, Indonesia), even though Temminck (1840: 230) had defined the type locality as Java, Sumatra, and Borneo .
