Syntypes: ZMB 3298 View Materials (two specimens), bodies in alcohol, skulls extracted, males; Otjimbingue, “Damaraland” (= country of the Damara), Namibia; collected by Hahn. ZMB 3887 View Materials (missing); “Damaraland”, Namibia; collected by Higgins.

Comment: Of the original series some specimens were sent to BMNH [1838.2.8.4, listed as purchased “ type ” of N. damarensis (Gray) Peters by Dobson (1878: 167)] and to NRM .
