Valid name: Coleura seychellensis Peters, 1868

Syntypes: ZMB 3470 (two specimens), bodies in alcohol, skulls extracted, male and female; Seychelles; donated by Ed. Percival Wright ( University of Dublin ) .

Comment: Both specimens were sent by E. P. Wright for examination to the ZMB, and to be deposited there. Dobson (1878: 365) stated the “ type ” to be in ZMB, and listed a further specimen (alcohol) from Seychelle Ids., leg. E.P. Wright, as one of the specimens from which the “ type ” of the species was taken. Thomas (1915: 579) restricted the type locality to Mahé Island; he mentioned the BMNH specimen (1869.2.19.2) as “cotype”, but this is unjustified as Peters based his description on the two ZMB specimens listed above.
